Sundown sun up

And yet my second Sundown Marathon here in Singapore, but instead of the boring, barely lit streets of Changi Coast Road, this years run is through the busy and crazy city lights in the heart of Singapore.

This years Sundown Marathon have seen another record breaking registrants at 12,000+ for 10km, 8,000+ for the half-marathon and 9,000+ for the Marathon. People are really digging in running during nighttime since it will definitely be more cooler than running daytime here in Singapore.

The start time for the 10km run was at 10:30pm and because I hitch a ride with a friend whose actually running in that category I was already at the venue around 9:00pm. And the time for the 21km and 42km flag-off was 12:30 am. So I have to wait for anther 3hrs more. Anyway it was to my advantage as there are less people on the baggage counter for the 21km booth. And so I deposited my bag there and waited for our turn.

I ran the half-marathon category as I'm trying to see whether I can beat my last year time at a lousy 3:40 which was really more than a 21km walk rather than running. Well this year my target was below 3 hours since I wasn't  focusing my training on running but mainly on swimming I just wanted to get below 3 hours. When I do run to train I would run for 10km and would get a time of 1:15 for that. I have not had any long run before this half marathon so I'm just aiming for below 3hrs.

Another good thing of being early I get to line up near the starting line since both half and full marathon will be starting at the same time, just imagine if you're in the middle of 17,000+ bodies you can't really sprint out if the people in front of you are walking.

Anyway during the more the 2 hours of waiting it seems like I have developed a upset stomach or It was just in my mind something of what you call jitters before a start of a race. Anyway after the start I began feeling better I started picking up speed in my run.

The run through the city was quite engaging as the road was very lit up by the lights of the lamp post and all the buildings around. Though after km 15, after the Marina barrage I think is a kilometer of very poorly lit and uneven road/pathway I think I have walked that whole kilometer or less because I dont want to get a sprain ankle or whatever I may get if I got into an accident. Anyway after that another kilometer of a good run path and then another kilometer of a 1 meter wide walkpath (sigh) either I run on the grassy field which I wouldn't know if its uneven or not. And so I end up walking if the person in front is walking ang running if his running as well.

After the walkpath has ended the road begun to widen again, back to the main road again. After kilometer 18 it started raining, and not just drizzling it poured on us with a bit of lighting and thunder and a lot of strong head wind. But the rain was a sign of relief for most since here in Singapore its very humid so eventhough its nighttime its still very hot.

The rain gave me that extra boost that I needed so with the 2 remaining kilometers I made a mad dash towards the finish line and seeing the clock at 3:00:24 I know I was below my target under 3 hours time and yes my result was 2:59:10, YES 40 minutes off my previous sundown marathon and I'm so happy about it.

Fishing in Singapore :)

Guess I'm just not lucky enough to catch anything on our first fishing trip in Sembawang Park Jetty (better luck next time), anyway the day was fun for me and my family, got a little bonding time with them.

Anyway we spent the whole morning from 8 AM to I think around 1 PM cause the day was so nice it's a very cloudy day no sunshine, that's why i was a very good day so go fishing. Our friend caught 3 fishes, I only know 1 of them a stonefish, thanks to the guy who ID it for me and using google to verify it really was :) a Stonefish, scary looking fish got lots for thorny thingy on its head though it was all soft still looks scary.

Here an actual picture of the catch
(Update: Saw this post on HandLineFishing.com, they ID the fish as a three spined toadfish or frogfish. Link: http://eileenc.handlinefishing.com/threespinetoadfish.html)

Another catch, dont know the name

our friends second catch.

All fishes we're his catch, I got nothing except an old sock :)

Maybe next time i'll catch something.

What a waste of resource, money and effort

what a waste of resource, money and effort

How on earth that I missed to check her background before going thru all the steps of processing her documents here in singapore, getting an insurance for and buying tickets for her to work here in Singapore.

All the resources, money and effort I have spent all for nothing because she has some immigration documents problem back in the Philippines. What did she do in in that country? what is written in here passport that made the immigration officer deny her to leave the country not once but twice on two separate flight. What on earth is written on your passport? Did you murder your old employer ha ha ha.

Why am'I writing this down? I guess i'm still not over the fact that I have wasted all that money, gosh 650 plus SGD gone down the drain. I should have just bought my self a new RCX5 watch or the bike that my wife wants Or bought a new iPad2.

Anyway, as I always tell my self, as long as I have a job I could get the money a lost back. well this has been a very wide eye opener for me.

What I fear...

I guess time really fly as fast as it's wing can carry it. I seems that only a few fast have past by but I thought from my last post has been recently happening, my little girl is getting less and less "malambing" to me and her mom. Too many factors has been to affect this change in my daughters attitude, me trying to push her away everytime she wants to hug me, sometimes trying to reprimand her things that she should have not or should have done. Another thing is this TFC (finding fault on TV hehehe), anyway Mara-Clara is another culprit, I don't know why it's very easy to sympatise with the Antagonist and not the Protagonist, it's much more easier to be like the Antagonist. Hayyyyyyyyyyy(sigh)

Anyway I'll do my best to revert whatever I can to let her know how much I love her.

Until then.

I Love you so much Ate Ganda

Every night my daughter will always make "lambing" (affection, fondness) to me, "Daddy pa-hug", "Daddy pa-kiss" or "Daddy, do you love me?". But somehow i try to reject her jokingly like i would answer, "Nope, i don't love you, i love Anakin" (her younger brother) and laugh about it run around whenever she's trying to hug me o try to kiss me. Right now she's 10 years old another 3 year and she will be in her teens and time really flies fast, i really should change how I treat her, i can never know when she will be hugging or kissing or saying i love you to another man.

I should atleast show her that i'm a father that she can run to whenever there problem in whatever aspect she will be encountering, i really have to change myself try to be more positive whenever she says something to me. Be patient with her whenever she's having mistakes, i don't want to wake up one day not hearing her saying "i love you daddy, pa-hug daddy, or pa-kiss daddy".

Getting ready to shift out

Getting all my things pack-up but before that need to get some boxes to put all my stuff. I'll be asking the office for the boxes so I won't have to buy from the store. Really excited and looking forward to moving in the flat I've rented for me and my family at long last I'll be with them again.
